  • Multi Axis Games enrolls in Incubator
  • Multi Axis Games (MxG) was founded in September 2006 by Matthew Mitchum and Margaret Staples; more than 20 talented individuals have since added their support, creating the core MxG team. MxG is an entertainment software development company specializing in subscriber based massively multiplayer online (MMO) games. Over the past few years the MxG team has created a vast pool of intellectual property and boasts many exciting accomplishments. MxG aims to invigorate the local economy through the creation of jobs and the hosting of tourism generating events in the community.   • Electronics recycling company wins Entrepreneur Challenge
    PORT ANGELES     A Carlsborg company that aims to reduce, through recycling, the amount of electronic equipment headed to landfills won the top award of $5,000 in the Entrepreneur Challenge.

    The $5,000 award and two $1,000 awards were presented Thursday at The Incubator @ Lincoln Center, 905 W. Ninth St., Port Angeles, by its director, Jim Haguewood.

    Dan Tharp, owner of EcycleNW of Carlsborg, aims to become a leader in the electronics recycling industry in Western Washington.


    Runners-up
    Two runners-up, both Port Angeles companies, received $1,000 each.

    They are Multi Axis Games, or MxG, and the Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association.


    Six competed in the contest.

    Other competitors were:

    • Geared-Up! — A disaster-ready supply company owned by David Michelson which features disaster preparedness kits for families, businesses, organizations and communities.

    • Olympic Theatre Arts Center — A plan by Elaine Caldwell and Janet McDonald to improve the 28-year-old Olympic Theatre Arts program.

    • Heaven on Earth — A retail bakery concept developed by the co-winners of the Youth Entrepreneur Challenge, Katelyn Lewis and Laura Brakus.

      Sponsors for the business challenge included First Federal Savings & Loan and the Jamestown S'Klallam tribe.
